Germany's number one cosmetic brand is back in Manila! Operated for a few years and gone for about two years, ArtDeco is available to us again, but this time, in a more posh home in Beauty Bar. I wasn't really that familiar with the brand; I've just been seeing its ads in our top local glossies for the past few months and I've been curious ever since. So when I got an invite from Beauty Bar to attend their workshop and learn more about the brand, I immediately said yes. Continue reading ...

Lately, I've noticed to have increasing number of young clients who are having their eyebrows and lash lines tattooed. By young I mean those in their late 20's and early 30's. Good thing there are already beauty salons offering good shades of brown that would look natural and won't turn green or gray as years pass. Unfortunately, there's still the pain factor that most women cannot tolerate and the healing time that they can't wait out.
Good news! K-Palette, the Japanese brand that specializes... Continue reading ...

Crackle nail polish; orange eyeshadow; hair feathers. The beauty trends of spring and summer were audacious, bohemian, and sometimes, downright insane.
Luckily, for our beauty sanity, the trends for this fall are way more understated. Models on runways were rocking modern takes on classic looks with bold brows, skin-flattering lip colors, and barely there foundation. Here are 10 makeup looks from Fall 2011 Fashion Week that will help you tiptoe into the new season.

Dior Meows For Fall

Though a fan of anything fab, I'm kind of a bit allergic to trends especially if it goes "too mainstream". But I can't help but love leopard print the way almost everyone loves it now. Scarves, dresses, shoes, even phone accessories, you name it -- I seem to have hoarded them all. And the one more thing I'm eyeing right now that would make me fully embrace the jungle and prowl the sidewalks of autumn is Dior's Mitzah Bricard-inspired limited edition make-up collection. For fall, Dior has rele... Continue reading ...

Q&A: Uneven Lashes

Q: Is it advisable to trim lashes? I have been using Rapidlash and noticed new hair growth. Thing is, my lashes are now uneven. Some a lot longer than others.
A: Do not trim your lashes, at any cost! It might just get more uneven and it's counterproductive. I suggest applying your lash growth serum Rapidlash to the roots of shorter lashes to try to chase the length of the longer lashes. But do not trim them! If you are really bothered with the uneven length of your lashes, I suggest going to... Continue reading ...

Q: How do I shift attention away from my dark under-eye circles! Even if I pile on concealer, they are still visible. Help!
A: If you're using the right product, there's no need to pile on too much. Regular concealers can only do so much. For really bad under-eye circles, you might need to use color correctors or neutralizers. For dark circles, which usually are bluish and purplish, mix your regular concealer with an orange corrector. Some beauty brands like Max Factor manufacture salmon hue... Continue reading ...
Q&A: Waterproof Mascara, Bad or Good?

Tips
Q: Is it true that waterproof mascaras are bad for the lashes?
A: The thing about mascaras with waterproof formula, they don't really harm the lashes per se but they're harder to take off at night. So it is more likely that you will be rougher on your lashes when trying to remove the mascara, which risks lash loss. As long as you're gentle with your lashes when removing the product, I don't see any harm. Also, use a reputable oil-based eye makeup remover to dissolve the mascara completely an... Most people I know rely on pencils when defining their brows as it's the easiest way to "draw". However, it gives out that "drawn on" look with those, making brows look harsh and unnatural. As for powders, I feel that the loose pigments make the brows look bland and inexact. Personally, I prefer shading my arches with cake or wax product as the moist texture makes brows look more groomed afterwards, and it leaves a nice tint that makes your brows look more distinct. The pigments are not as vi... Continue reading ...

V for Victoria
Word is spreading around the blogosphere about Victoria Beckham’s new cover spread for the May issue of Vogue Germany.
