Q: Hi Dior! I'm starting my journey into making makeup artistry as a career. Just a question, what do you wear when on the job?
A: When I went to my makeup training schools, they always advise us to wear black. They say it's the signature "makeup artist attire." The same thing was followed when I was in L'Oreal. I did retail training for the beauty advisers of Shu Uemura and the rule was to have all our makeup artists wear black. Well it only makes sense -- black looks professional, it almost ... Benefit opened its doors for us before 2011 ended last year. Now open in Greenbelt 5 for 2 months, Benefit officially celebrated its launch in Manila last week, with the arrival of the daughters of the cosmetic brands' founder, Maggie and Annie Ford Danielson.
Thank you Benefit for the exclusive invite!
The event started out with Maggie and Annie introducing Benefit and its products. It was so cute how each Benefit best-sellers were introduced, on a pink carpet slash runway, where the winners o...

As a child, I've always been fascinated with my mom's make-up kit, figuring out what the weird looking eyelash curler is for and which color to put on what area on my face. One of the brands she always keep is Estee Lauder. I guess because of this, I've always labeled Estee Lauder as a beauty brand for the "mature" and the "old". Subconsciously, I've never really considered adding any Estee Lauder product both in my personal and professional kit, until I was asked to do a stint for them last ... Continue reading ...

Unlike most women, I highly crave meat and protein-rich food than carbs. I'd gladly pass up on dessert to devour a lean piece of steak. I cannot give up eating meat, though I've tried doing so a couple of times in 2006 after seeing a video on animal rights by PETA. It has saddened me to realize I can never be a vegetarian. But even so, I still advocate animal rights, being a pet owner myself. So here's something to help support an advocacy on animal rights:

How difficult can Christmas shopping be? Well, if you're like me who hates traffic and crowded malls, super! Good thing some stores offer Christmas gift sets that can make Christmas shopping a little bit easier! One of the great deals I scored this season was from Estee Lauder. Don't you just love their annual holiday sets? Super worth the buck!
EL Pure Gloss To Go ₱1,600 (worth over ₱4,500)
Estee Lauder x Michael Kors For every ₱2,800 worth of purchase, you can this kit for only ₱2,500 ...

Though
still a taboo to most today, tattoo has gotten its way into mainstream as
celebrities and models are getting inked. I had my first one during my stint in
LA where almost everyone I met was sporting one. It didn’t take long
before I convinced myself to join the club since my classmate works at a tattoo
place as a piercer. I wanted a text that would remind me of a
certain significant time in my life and since I was taking up Masters program in
make-up artistry that time, I decided that... Continue reading ...

The designer-turned-perfumer-turned-movie director can now add "makeup artist" to his resumé, as his Private Blend Lip Color Collection, a line of 12 lipsticks, debuts at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue on June 1. Each tube is $45, which isn't cheap by any lipstick standard, but here's why I love them: These little babies are pigment-rich, so a little goes a long way. There's an array of pretty, flattering reds, nudes, and pinks. They're semi-matte, but feel creamy going on and don't dry...

Tom Pecheux has always been one of my favorite makeup artists. There’s his soft-spoken French accent and his perfectly calm, collected, and kind demeanor during the craziness that is fashion week, but what really gets me is his expert ability to paint faces in a natural and beautiful way. There’s also something cool about the fact that despite his early links to Shiseido, he’s been answering to no one for the past few seasons. While his equally renowned peers snatched up creative direct... Continue reading ...

Those who know me well know that I am marginally obsessed with Gina Brooke. The Shu Uemura Artistic Director known for her dedication to great skin above all, Brooke is the only person Madonna lets tend to her increasingly youthful complexion for personal appearances and live shows. I got word a few weeks ago that Brooke, fresh off Madge’s Sticky & Sweet tour, would be making a rare appearance at the tents to key the makeup team at Vivienne Tam, which made the designer’s show last night a... The fact that Jennifer Lopez ascribes to the gospel of La Mer for her perfectly smooth, radiant skin is fairly common knowledge, although her signature bronzed glow has little to do with the miracle cream. Chalk that up to the self-described “King of Bling” makeup artist Scott Barnes, who has been tending to the singer-turned-actress’ honey-gold complexion since Jenny from the Block became J. Lo. I caught up on an interview article with Barnes on the set of Lopez’s new flick, The Back... Continue reading ...
