One reason why I've always been drawn into makeup is because it's the easiest way to change one's look. It's not permanent and that makes it fun to experiment and play with. Want to look sweet? Go for soft shades of pink. Want to look fierce? There's always contouring techniques. Want to look poised? Go for classics and neutrals. The latter is actually a personal favorite. No one can go wrong with that one.

So with all the brands launching pop and trendy colors, it's a breathe of fresh air to receive something so underrated yet powerful and elegant. Just yesterday, I received a few neutral shades of makeup from Poise Makeup Professional from Los Angeles.

Poise Makeup Professional started over a decade ago offering high quality product for professional makeup artist and everyday customers alike. Here are some of their cosmetics I've received and my thoughts on each:

Mineral Pressed Powder

Use this alone for a soft matte appearance or apply over foundation to set your base makeup. This is perfect to bring for hotter days when you need to subtract shine from your face.

Mineral Pressed Cheek Color

The rich pigmented formulation makes three swipes over the cheeks enough. It's very silky so blending is a bliss.

Mineral Pressed Eye Color

Like their cheek color, this too is richly pigmented and are long lasting. You may use this dry for a soft easy to blend color or use wet for a intense opaque finish.

Hydrating Luxe Lipstick

The creamy formula provides both rich opaque color and hydration. I need not reply frequently throughout the day.
And since this is a cream emollient formula, Poise Makeup warns us that we may see small droplets of natural oils appear on the surface of the product, especially if exposed to elevated temperatures or strong sunlight. This will not affect the quality of the product. Should this occur, swirl a brush or clean fingertip over the product’s surface to mix them back in. I'm in love with the two shades I received -- Vintage, which is a universally flattering deep red and Boca, a versatile nude.

Liquid Matte Lipstick

Since Kylie Jenner, liquid matte lipsticks have been the fad. It's long wearing and highly pigmented but has the tendency to dry the lips. So be sure to properly moisturize and prep lips for even better results. I like to use this one for events when you know you'll be eating most of the time (weddings, debuts, etc.) as this really stays on!
