Barbie Pink Lips

Posted by Dior Co on Monday, March 29, 2010, In : Make-up Looks

I've been getting a lot of private messages and questions on what lipcolor I used in a picture (see below) I posted in my facebook page. To give an answer to you ladies, it's Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited lipstick in PK336 (see product shot below). It's a limited edition shade from it's 2007 Spring make-up collection but I just got word from the brand that it has been reinstated as a regular shade (Yayy!). Those who find the shade too bright might want to opt for a paler shade which is more popu...

Aging Is In Our Bones

Posted by Dior Co on Monday, March 29, 2010, In : News

bonesandaging_main.jpgTurns out that night creams and facelifts can only do so much to combat the signs of aging, according to a study published in the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Physicians at the University of Rochester Medical Center have found that our facial bones change pretty dramatically as we age, largely contributing to an older appearance. CT scans of 120 hospital patients showed that the most noticeable shift was that the angle of the jaw increases. (Seriously, check out the photo in...

Get Your Skin that Summer Glow

Posted by Dior Co on Thursday, March 25, 2010, In : Reviews
It seems like the ongoing theme of my summer shopping spree has been all about exfoliation. Ever since I tried The Spa's Refining Body Wrap, I got so hooked on regularly having my skin exfoliated at least twice a week, which is by the way the recommended frequency to maintain a healthy skin cell turn-over (But then again, who has the time?). L'Oreal Paris Body Expertise Exfotonic does just that.

It took me years to find the perfect exfoliator for my skin that I can depend on to remove my dea...

La Prairie Opens Its Spa

Posted by Dior Co on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, In : Reviews

Another reason why I would love to live in New York: The La Prairie Spa at the Ritz-Carlton. The Swiss skincare company has just devised a new Platinum Rare facial at its New York relaxation destination using its luxe Platinum line—an antiaging collection devoted to recharging the skin’s electrical balance using actual traces of one of the world’s rarest, most precious elements. The service’s real selling point, though, is that you are attended to by two aestheticians instead of one. ...

At Chanel, Everything's Tinted with Black

Posted by Dior Co on Monday, March 15, 2010, In : Make-up Looks

Peter Philips, Chanel’s creative director of makeup, has a knack for pulling out specific elements of Karl Lagerfeld’s sartorial vision and reinterpreting them in beauty terms. Who could forget Philips’ ivory-coated lash lines and pearl-tipped fingers to complement the house’s all-white Spring ‘09 Couture show, or his jade nail from Fall ‘09, a shade that was plucked directly from the similarly colored tweeds and accessories that Lagerfeld sent down the runway? For Fall '10, Phili...

Jsimps_india_main.jpgJessica Simpson's new show, The Price of Beauty, which starts at 10 P.M. EDT today March 15 will examine how people perceive beauty differently all over the world. VH1 posted a preview video that gives a glimpse into Simpson's trips to Paris as well as Uganda, where women intentionally gain weight before marriage in order to look more attractive to their husbands. As Simpson, who's had struggles with how people perceive her weight, says, "This is the complete opposite of everything I've ever ...

Neon Brows at Balenciaga

Posted by Dior Co on Tuesday, March 9, 2010,

browledepic_main.jpgTrend forecasts have been saying over and over that for fall 2010, there's a major focus on brows: They're a little darker, a bit elongated—all in all, more prominent. But at Balenciaga, makeup artist Pat McGrath took the strong-brows idea and really rolled with it, turning several of the models' eyebrows one of seven sorbet colors. If the idea of baby pink, mint green, robin's-egg blue, or pale orange brows sounds more disgusting than delicious, you have to check out the photos from the sh...

The Perfect Lipstick Shade for Spring

Posted by Dior Co on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, In : Reviews

I always find myself mixing two to three lipstick shades to achieve a perfect I'm in the mood for, despite having more than 50 lipsticks in my stack-pile in my make-up arsenal. It just seems to be impossible to find the perfect shade of lipstick I want in a tube! But, as my Spring make-up newest find would prove, it still is possible. Guerlain Galia (#3) Rouge G Lipstick is a pink-beige nude lipstick with a creamy, lightly glossy look. It has no real detectable shimmer, but it has this soft s...

Marais Prefers To Stay Outside The Lines

Posted by Dior Co on Tuesday, March 9, 2010,

Those of you following Fall beauty trends at the Fashion week would have already noticed the eyeshadow dominance on runways. But after seeing some interesting liner work at Jean Paul-Gaultier last Saturday, I thought I’d take a minute to ruminate on pencils and liquid fine-point pens. While cat-eyes in varying thicknesses have shown up at many shows, seems like we're dealing with something else entirely at Gaultier. "His collection was influenced by the world traveler,” Guido Palau menti...

Beauty On the Go Is a No-No

Posted by Dior Co on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, In : News

carmascara_main.jpgThis week, a 37-year old woman caused a car accident in Florida because she was shaving her bikini line, in preparation for meeting up with her boyfriend. (If that's not weird enough, she did it with her ex-husband in the passenger seat.) Admit it, if you're a driving woman,  you must've occasionally applied lipstick at a red light. That's pretty tame compared to the beauty acts I've witnessed from other drivers, from flossing (the grossest) to applying mascara (the most dangerous). My rule o...

Best Beauty Looks From The Oscars

Posted by Dior Co on Monday, March 8, 2010, In : Celebrities

careymulligan_main.jpg
haven't been too impressed by the hair and makeup looks throughout this awards show season (especially the overplayed rumpled-updo-with-one-lank-piece-drooping-over-the-shoulder). But some of our favorite stars finally redeemed themselves at the ultimate ceremony last night, the Academy Awards. Many A-listers avoided the trendy traps and simply played up their best assets and looked stunning. Here my our picks for the top 5 beauty looks from the Oscars.
Carey Mulligan. Finally, a starlet who...

Sandra Bullock: Best of Oscars 2010

Posted by Dior Co on Monday, March 8, 2010, In : Celebrities

Days before the Academy Awards, critics were saying Sandra Bullock had a very odd chance of winning the Oscar. Well, the actress didn't think so as she came in the show red-carpet ready, prepped with Best Actress-caliber beauty by Glam Squad headed by celebrity makeup artist Angela Levin for Chanel Beauty and hairstylist Adir Abergel for Frédéric Fekkai.

Sandra looked absolutely deserving of the award she took home with her modern-classy Hollywood makeup: dewy skin, soft eyes, and a bold red...

Refine Your Silhouette For Summer

Posted by Dior Co on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, In : Reviews
In my calendar, March marks the beginning of summer. To welcome summer this year, I skipped splurging on new pairs of bikinis and indulged myself on a body treatment for a bikini-ready body instead. The Silhouette Refining Body Wrap is one of the two newest bodycare treatments of The Spa Wellness Center. This new addition to The Spa's range of services is a cutting edge slimming, anti-cellulite full body cocoon treatment, said to stimulate your body to break down fat and eliminate water reten...

Who Touches Your Face?

Posted by Dior Co on Monday, March 1, 2010, In : Reviews

With the surge of cosmetic clinics sprouting in every corner of the metro, we ladies are bombarded with too many options on how we can change and alter our face and body. Extreme measures as others would describe cosmetic surgery, most women (and an increasing number of men) are still tempted to go for it as it presents countless possibilities to achieve perfection. However, there are still some of us who would just like to enhance how we already look and try to optimize our features without ...
