Renée’s New ‘Do

Posted by Dior Co on Monday, April 26, 2010, In : Celebrities

After sporting a chic and uniform chin-length crop for the past year or so, Renée Zellweger has decided to change things up a little bit, debuting a spunkier new coif—with fringe!—at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of My Own Love Song last week. The piece-y look reminds me of a less layered version of the famous shag Sally Hershberger gave Meg Ryan back in the day (thus entitling her to charge $800 for haircuts from then on), and seems to be working with Zellweger’s cherubic cheeks ...

V for Victoria

Posted by Dior Co on Monday, April 26, 2010, In : Make-up Looks
Word is spreading around the blogosphere about Victoria Beckham’s new cover spread for the May issue of Vogue Germany. The conversation mostly surrounds a rather racy image of VB straddling a duck-shaped playground figurine. I, of course, am more concerned with a few particularly noteworthy beauty tricks, courtesy of face painter Fulvia Farolfi and manicurist-to-the-stars Tom Bachik. To properly give Posh the dark, seductive quality appropriate for women who scandalize children’s toys, Fa...

Lose Weight With a Ringtone

Posted by Dior Co on Tuesday, April 20, 2010, In : News

ringtone_main.jpgThese days, my iPhone ringtone has been put into its original default. But in Japan, things are much more creative—there are ringtones that help people lose weight or cure their allergies, according to claims by the Japan Ringing Tone Laboratory. BBC News reports that you can even get a specific "therapeutic" ring based on your sign (the one for Taurus, the bull, reportedly moos). The Laboratory is helmed by the guy who invented Bow Lingual, the program that claimed to translate dog barking...

Wake Up Beautiful

Posted by Dior Co on Tuesday, April 20, 2010, In : Tips

beautysleep_main.jpgAh, beauty sleep. You've heard of it. Maybe even gotten a night of it. But wake up gorgeous after every seven of slumber? That's always been the stuff of dreams—until now. Here's a sneak peek of what you'll want to do before going to bed this evening:

Wake up with radiant skin. Slather on a gradual tanner like  St. Tropez Everyay Gradual Body Lotion before climbing into bed. It won't streak or stain the sheets, and it will give you a subtle glow by morning.

Use the strong stuff.
Nighttime is ...

Sandals-Ready Feet

Posted by Dior Co on Tuesday, April 20, 2010, In : Tips

athomepedi_main.jpgWe're pretty excited about breaking out the sandals this summer, but if you're not able to squeeze regular pedicures into your calendar—or your budget—don't be afraid to try it on your own at home. Here's how:

  1. Take a milk bath. Not as ridiculous as it sounds! The lactic acid in the milk will help smooth calluses, so fill a large bowl or tub with equal parts milk and warm water, add a few drops of lavender oil, and soak your feet for five to ten minutes.
  2. Care for your cuticles. Rub a drop of...

Definitions of Beauty

Posted by Dior Co on Tuesday, April 20, 2010, In : News

Definitions of beauty have evolved countless times—for instance, from plump to thin and back again. But a new study from Cardiff University in Wales shows that people may find mixed-race faces the most attractive—and this may be a deeper, more lasting kind of appreciation. In the largest study of its kind, Michael Lewis of Cardiff's School of Psychology, collected a random sample of 1205 black, white, and mixed-race faces. (Rashida Jones, above, has a white mother and a black father—sp...

Halle Berry’s Hair-Raising Antics

Posted by Dior Co on Tuesday, April 20, 2010, In : Celebrities

Since parting ways with her caramel highlights and chin-length bob last year, Halle Berry has been successfully working a short crop with a little added length on top. Recently, we’ve noticed that she’s taken that extra step in the styling department, using a wax to sculpt said length into spikes, instead of treating it to a softer tousle. What do you think of the style: too much “edge" that only a model like Agyness Deyn can pull off, or can you never really have enough—especially if...
