It's been more than half a year now since I chopped off my long locks. And contrary to popular belief, short hair is so much harder to maintain. You got to visit the salon for a snip every six to eight weeks to keep the right shape of your short 'do. With long hair before, I can just pony up or put it in a bun if I'm lazy to style it up. But with short hair, I gotta blowdry, use the iron, and apply God knows how many products to style it right. Yes, it's been an awful whole lot of deal to be able to say "It's a good hair day."

This morning, I was invited by Beautybox Corp to try their Himawari haircare series of Oil in Shampoos and Conditioners at Toni and Guy at Discovery Primea Hotel. They launched their second variant, Volume and Repair. I was glad that they still let us choose which variant to use on our hair as I already have too many strands and is in no need for volume. I chose to have my hair washed with their first variant that was launched last year, the Rich and Repair line.

But before I share my experience, let me give a brief of the difference of the two. If you're like any woman I know, you either have these two major hair concerns; either your hair is frizzy or it's limp.

For those of you who fall under the frizzy category, you would want to go for the Himawari Dear Beaute Oil in Shampoo and Conditioner as it control volume whilst still moisturizing our hair. This variant tames frizz, softens coarse strands and makes hair more manageable. The result is a sleeker and straighter hair.

Now if you're one with fine and limp hair, the Volume and Repair line is for you. This oil in shampoo and conditioner boost volume and add body to lifeless hair. This duo is a great wash if you want bounce or if you're about to style your hair in waves and curls.

Both variants are silicone- and sulfate-free as it restores hair's internal lipid-moisture balance. Both are formulated with organic sunflower oil, sprout and seeds extract to achieve smoother and silkier hair texture.

Now, for my experience.

Russell, my hairstylist for the day, started out with washing my hair with the Rich and Repair Oil in Shampoo and Conditioner. The sunny and floral scent was perfect for a good day's start. Afterwhich, he sprtized on some Fuwarie Prostyle Straightening Hair Mist before blowdrying my hair. I've always used Fuwarie whenever I style my hair. It ensures my strands are protected from the heat and makes my hairstyle last longer.

Anyways, I was watching Russell intently when he was blowdrying my hair as I wanted to get tips on techniques on how else I can improve my blowdrying skills. After about ten minutes of just using a paddle brush and blowdryer, my hair was dry, sleek and on fleek! (haha) See below:

How come when I do the same thing at home, I still need to put on a leave-on serum, some of my husband's wax and sometimes hairspray just to keep my hair sleek? Could it be it's Himawari? I think so.

Thank you Cheryl for yet another pampering event. As I always say, you surely are the bringer of all good things Japanese! Oh and by the way, Cheryl washed her hair with the Volume and Repair variant. See how bouncy her hair is in our photo above.
